Who Is Behind TDEE Hub
TDEE Hub is built and operated by Kanika Modi, a software developer and founder. There is no anonymous content team: the same person who writes the code behind each calculator writes and reviews the guides that explain it. Our Methodology page documents every equation and data source used across the tools.
TDEE Hub provides educational estimates, not medical advice. We are not doctors or registered dietitians, we do not claim to be, and nothing on this site should replace consultation with a qualified professional — this limitation is stated on every calculator and guide.
How We Build Our Calculators
- Published equations only. Every calculator implements an equation from the peer-reviewed literature or established nutrition practice — for example, Mifflin-St Jeor (1990) for basal metabolic rate and the US Navy circumference method for body fat. We never invent or silently modify formulas. Each equation and its source is listed on the Methodology page.
- Validation before release. Each calculator is checked by hand against worked examples computed from the original papers before it ships, in both metric and imperial units.
- Stated accuracy and limitations. Where an equation has known error bounds or populations it fits poorly, we say so — on the tool page and in the Methodology notes.
Content & Sources Policy
- Guides are grounded in the equations and evidence the tools use; numeric claims (deficit math, protein ranges, timelines) trace back to the same published sources.
- We cite organisations and papers by name where a specific claim depends on them (for example, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' support for Mifflin-St Jeor).
- We do not publish content promoting products we have not used, and we do not sell placements. There are no sponsored posts on TDEE Hub.
Review & Update System
Every calculator page and guide carries a visible "Last reviewed" date, and page metadata carries the same date so search engines see it too. Our review cycle:
- Scheduled review: every page is re-checked at least every six months — formulas still current, sources still valid, examples still computing correctly.
- Event-driven review: pages are reviewed sooner when the underlying science, public health guidance, or our own tools change.
- Update transparency: material changes are dated; the review date on the page moves only when someone has actually re-checked the content.
Corrections
If you find a computational error, a wrong citation, or anything else that is not right, we want to fix it. Use the contact form and include the page URL and what you believe is incorrect. Our commitments:
- We read every message and take suspected calculation errors seriously — a wrong number is the worst failure a calculator site can have.
- Confirmed errors in a calculation or formula are fixed within days, not weeks.
- Material corrections are noted on the page with the date they were made. We do not silently rewrite the record.
Quality Standards Checklist
Every tool and guide on TDEE Hub must satisfy all of the following before it is considered finished:
- The formula it uses is named, shown, and cited
- Worked examples match hand calculations in metric and imperial units
- Accuracy limits and who the estimate fits poorly are stated
- A visible Last Reviewed date appears on the page
- Disclaimers make clear the result is an educational estimate, not medical advice
- Contact and correction routes are one click away in the footer
